what have you learned?

“Back and forth they talked. “Didn’t we feel on fire as he conversed with us on the road, as he opened up the Scriptures for us?”” (Luke 24.32 MSG)

I’ve lived in Middle TN for many years now.  Oftentimes when I’ve applied for and had been eliminated from consideration for employment (and I mean countless times no matter the degree of responsibility), the reason was the same. I’m “overqualified” for the position. Without having interviewed me and after having adjusted my resume to fit the position, I’d undoubtedly receive an email from every potential employer stating the same thing, “Though your qualifications are impeccable, we’ve decided to go in another direction.”

For the first time in 4 years, I thought I had a bite from a real employer, you know, one with meaningful benefits. We met. Things went great. I was a shoe in for the position. I didn’t get the position however one question remained with me since the interview. A portion of it is the title of this missive: “What have you learned?”

I’ve pondered this question for weeks now and today, Resurrection Sunday, God asked me that same question. God, creator of all that is, fashioned a body and became subordinate to save me. He was the only sacrifice suitable to bring His creation back into relationship with Him. I’ve learned that these entries (Being Fearless tab), though meant to encourage the Saints, were His provision for me while entering the pastorate in TN, being denied employment, minimal help from others, no savings and the threat of my family being homeless.

In one of the entries, I asked God to teach me what David learned while in the fields tending the flock: suffering. Be careful what you ask for! God knew David prior to forming him in the womb. He knew me also. I’ve learned that taking matters into my own hands was foolish, yet He’d provided a way of escape from my error. Though Sarah, Abraham’s wife, erred in her rush to fuel God’s promise of a son, God called her the mother of nations and she was. Paul, once named Saul who persecuted Christians prior to meeting Jesus, said he’d learned to abound and abase. So did I. Jesus, God incarnate, asked that “this cup pass” from before Him yet accepted it on my behalf and is our risen Lord and King.

What have I learned through suffering in Middle TN? I’ve learned that nothing is beneath me but the devil, the Saints belong to God and not man and as much as I’d like to retaliate against falsities in ministries here and worldwide, God continues to expose and slay enemies crept in unawares by the Saints right before my eyes. I’ve learned that this was needful to enlarge my tent and lengthen the cords of my measure of faith. It took repentance from conducting my affairs in an old mindset and trusting Him in all things. I revisit His word, became vigilant in prayer and thanksgiving and patiently waited for Him to introduce me in my neighborhood, the marketplace and ministry.

God has opened the Scriptures to me for more than twenty years. He continues making them clear to me and my role in His will. When His Spirit burns within, I want to explode in immeasurable joy and run and testify to His leaders about it. God’s benefit package is unmatchable. The labor required is light for He does the work. Saints, equal to knowing about Jesus is receiving Him by faith and waiting to be filled with His Spirit. Consistently study the Scriptures, hold every thought and imagination captive making it subject to the Word of God, wait for God's voice in prayer and obey it, lastly, worship God to fortify your relationship in Him. Walk the talk.

If you know me or have read prior entries on this Being Fearless tab, you can gather that I’m in Middle TN because God said go. I only need show up and speak whatever I hear Him say. It’s remarkable watching people glimpse into His face and change. It’s not quite what one would expect to receive from a cashier at Walmart! I don’t know every step or task ahead of me, but each will be revealed by His Spirit.

Love everyone Saints and let God sort them out in the end. Now, what have you learned?

my tongue is the pen of a ready writer

That entire verse from the Bible reads as follows: "For the director of music. To the tune of "Lilies." Of the Sons of Korah. A maskil. A wedding song. My heart is stirred by a noble theme as I recite my verses for the king; my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer." (Ps 45.1)  This is High Holy Week in our Christian faith, April 9-16, 2017 .  It is the week we celebrate what Jesus Christ had done for us with Love.  Listen for God, Saints.  Listen to God and then act immediately on what He says.  Take good notes and refer to them often!

Saints, we are in Nashville TN!  God is certainly making the way for us to expand the ministry within this state and others and we need your support.  Pray that God's glory be shown in our lives, provoking others to come to Him in all sincerity.  Believe that He will cover us from and bend the bow of the enemy.  Trust that what is being fulfilled has already been completed on the Cross.

As we prepare to be a blessing both naturally and spiritually to the body of Christ and those yet to believe, let us know how we can assist you.  Under the "More" tab, select "Contact Us".  Your information isn't shared with anyone and will be received directly by Pastor Young and/or myself.  I'll return shortly to add new updates to this website and of course, my blog on Being Fearless.

Remember beloved, "Arise and Shine for your Light has come and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you!"  (IS 60.1)

2014: the Christian's year of release from suicide and slack

8/20/2014

Picture
I’ve heard it said that this year of our Lord, 2014, is The Year of Release. It’s not just the release of assets from God to your hands but also the year in which you surrender your heart and all of its issues to Jesus. It’s the year God releases you from wanting to Being.

Every pretty faced well-dressed Christian does not have it all together. We have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. The church as a whole suffers many issues and as a reminder, this brief address challenges the parishioner to a closer walk with Jesus.

One obstacle is the lack of discernment. Another is not attentively listening for and acting on the unction of the Holy Ghost. Another, intercede on someone's behalf in prayer - prayer consisting of God's promises and not what you want for that person. Some Christians are downright lazy – as long as they get theirs, no one else matters. Others are enablers, you keep doing the works while the other person does nothing. This behavior removes God from the relationship and leaves Him in theory only and it has to stop!

So what’s hindering our personal and corporate growth? Our will to release. Surrender today those things that keep you from fulfilling the will of God concerning you. Those things veiled in your heart and never spoken of because of imminent pain and/or judgment from onlookers. Know this simple truth, those unresolved issues are quietly preventing you from being the manifested sons of God.

What then should happen? Release, surrender and resign from your post. Place the Blood of Jesus on your doorpost and kick the devil out of your house! This is your year of release from depression, anxiety, ill health, thoughts of suicide and your plan. Release all negativity from within your heart. Release yourself from gossiping about others, from murmuring and complaining and from wanting to control everything. Sever your ties with confusion in business and relationships. This is your year of release from extra marital affairs and pornography. Make this your year to stop lying, stop over eating, stop eating the wrong things, stop being a closet drunk or drug addict, stop smoking and dying a slow death. Stop being bullied by the devil. Stop playing with the devil. Take a second look; is money your god? Are you working to make your name great or have you left that up to God?

If we believe and have faith in God, then we need to part company with fear and walk upright in Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. My Christian brothers and sisters, put on the whole armor of God and stand ready to defend the faith and win souls for Christ. Our brothers and sisters are being badgered by the enemy to surrender what Jesus has promised them. If he did it to Adam, then he’ll do it to your friend or loved one, your coworker or praise team member, your pastor or his/her child. Be ready to stand in the gap.

Men aught always to pray and not cease. Prayer changes things. Effectual fervent prayers of those in right standing with God changes much. Cultivate your prayer life. Ask Jesus to teach you to pray. Go back to church! Seek help on how to pray from your church leaders, including the Mother Boards. Study the Word of God and learn how to pray effectively and responsibly. PRAY!

Church, let’s repent and stand ready to see the salvation of the Lord. We must believe that God will not just restore us to our former glory but that this latter church will be greater. We will be seen this time with power as the glory of the Lord will shine about us. We are that city on a hill. We are not grasshoppers. We are well able to take back souls from the devil beginning with our own.

The time to amend our programs, departments, ministries and relationships within the market place to include short term and long term care for individuals and families suffering loss, addictions, emotional/psychological disorders and suicide is now. Let’s steward our Father’s business effectively.

Live in Christ Fearlessly!

Suicide is not the answer!

8/20/2014

The devil binds people with thoughts of failure and suicide, even in Christian homes. It is he who places pressure in one’s mind as an attempt to drive out the voice of God in their hearts. When pressures surmount many boil over and give refuge to the thought of suicide.

Don’t let the devil trick you out of your promises! Jesus loves you with an incomparable love. He will move the earth for you, but requires you trust Him, believe Him and love Him enough to allow Him access to your heart. Please consider the following if you’ve had thoughts of suicide. I believe it will save your life:

  • You are never alone. There is help! Within the United States, Dial 911 immediately! You will receive assistance of law professionals who will contact others on your behalf promptly. There is also the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 800-273-8255 if you are contemplating suicide.

  • Acknowledge that God is bigger than all of your issues combined, magnified x1 trillion and warmed over. He is the One that called you, placed you in the womb and breathed life into your body. No matter what your experiences, He still loves you and wants you back.

  • If you’ve not surrendered your life to Jesus Christ or you have back slidden (lived as if you were never saved), then surrender now. You took a detour and were led away from the light of this glorious gospel by the devil, Satan, the enemy of your soul. God didn’t leave you. You left him. Come home. Say aloud the following, “Lord forgive me for my sin. I believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God who died for my release from sin. Lord Jesus, come into my life. I’ll make you my Lord and my Savior.”

  • Ask for help! This requires you put all of the pride, embarrassment and shame aside. It seems frightening, I know however you are strong enough to do it. There is a King in you. You don’t sense Him because of the issues you’re facing. That is what the devil wants to happen. He’s already a defeated foe and he desires to bring you down as well. His job, as Jesus Himself has said, is to steal, kill and destroy. Jesus also said that the devil is the father of lies. He doesn’t live in the truth. He is a murderer. Your focus is off. Stop looking at the issues. Jesus said the reason for His coming is that you would have life and it more abundantly. Turn to God. This is the first push of God for your life when you are considering killing yourself.

  • Speak the Word. If all you know is that Jesus saved you, then say it until you believe it; even in the middle of the crisis! Once you believe it, repent and Ask for Help immediately. The shortest prayer recorded in the Bible is Peter crying out to Jesus as he began to sink, “Lord Help!” You feel as if you’re sinking and you don’t see a way out. There’s good news my friend, Jesus saved Peter from drowning and He’ll do the same for you!

  • Don’t be afraid! Release the emotions and thoughts of suicide by crying aloud, real big! Who cares who hears you and what they think. This is your life on the line. God has appointed when you should die and He has commanded you NEVER to kill.

  • Trust God. Paul was imprisoned and a group shut themselves up in a house to pray for his release. God sent an angel and released him from prison. He arrived at the house where the saints were praying and knocked on the door. This will be your testimony. You were imprisoned by the enemy of your soul in fear, depression, ill health and the death of everything you’ve tried. My friend, God has prepared a body of believers to pray for your release. The glory of the Lord will shine about you as your testimony. You take the next step. Call someone today!

  • You are not alone. Get help! Pick up the phone and dial a number. Even if it’s wrong, trust that God will have the right person answer. If they can’t talk you down, they know someone who can. If you attend a church, go to someone you trust for help. If you’ve stopped attending church, go back and lay on the altar until the Lord moves. He will move! Please, don’t worry about what others might say. That is the devil playing tricks with your mind. Rebuke him and kick him out.

  • When you receive help, stay the course. Don’t stop and turn back to your old ways of thinking and being. Determine to change. Change must take place for your success in life God’s way. After all, you are created in His image and His likeness. Jesus Christ loves you with an incomparable love. He will move the earth for you, but it requires you trust Him, believe Him and love Him enough to allow Him access to your heart.

Live in Christ Fearlessly!

just ride

Pastor Young and I have a bunch of sons! Without fail, when we tell them to load up (meaning everyone get in the truck) there are at least 4 of them who ask where we’re going. They ask during the entire trip. Sometimes it’s a surprise and others not. Some trips are short and others require an overnight stay in the middle of our excursion. Many roads snake through the country and others climb mountains. We’ve often run into DOTD construction along the way. What do I say when someone’s asked me again where we’re going, ‘Just ride.’ It’s improper English I know. But they understand I’m aggravated, lol.

As parents, we’re not of the mindset to purposely hurt or injure our children. They are safe with us. We don’t lie to them. We want the best for them. We give them what God has provided us especially His Word. They know that by the end of the trip, through sunshine and rain, lunches consisting of cold fried chicken and boiled eggs, and potty breaks every so often, it will have been worth the wait. I think the only thing we’re missing is the rear facing back seat!

I want to encourage you. I hope I succeed and maybe cause you to smile. Life throws us some challenges. Today our route is clear and we know where we’re headed. Tomorrow something is thrown in the way. There’s the loss we didn’t expect. An illness that we’re told is severe enough to take a life if not attended to immediately. Friends and family seem to have forgotten your name.

My dear brother or sister let me remind you, if you are doing what God said and your efforts don’t show progress nor do your next steps appear clear at first glance, then just ride. Trust God. When you feel anxious or discouraged, refer to the promises of Jesus, speak them aloud to yourself to comfort you, worship God and just ride. Don’t abandon ship and plan your own diversions. Stay the course designed for you, strengthen your faith and just ride.

Now a few Words from our Sponsor: Have faith in God; The just shall live by faith; We walk by faith and not by sight; Build yourselves up on your most Holy faith; All things work together for good for them who love God and are called according to His purpose; Therefore, submit yourself to God, resist the devil and he will flee from you.

This is a snippet from a lesson I’ve entitled, “Just Ride.” In the meantime, make time for Jesus and study. He’s the Man with the plan and YOU are the apple of His eye!

Psalm 86:1-3 (AMP)    A Prayer of David.
"Incline Your ear, O Lord, and answer me, for I am poor and distressed, needy and desiring. Preserve my life, for I am godly and dedicated; O my God, save Your servant, for I trust in You [leaning and believing on You, committing all and confidently looking to You, without fear or doubt]. Be merciful and gracious to me, O Lord, for to You do I cry all the day."

I asked God to teach me what David learned while in the fields with the sheep, when he was hunted for 14 years by King Saul. Teach me what Joseph learned in the pit, as a slave and then imprisoned.

Am I the only one who believes God, trusts Him, eats His Word, studies, prays, keeps fellowship with Him and even declares His promises over my life only to wonder what I've missed?

I heard a Preacher answer this request later that evening this way - "David learned suffering."

To be completely honest, this "Timeline Photo" really brings it home for me - it's the icing on the cake. In speaking with my husband a week prior, I acknowledged this as being a real issue for me, thinking I'd already un-become everything I was. Still there's more to do.

Keep truckin Saints. As with King David and Joseph who was over all of Egypt after Pharaoh, there is a glory to be revealed in us after this. Fear not and don't faint. Whatever you're in, you and God are the majority. Listen to God and follow His lead.

Be encouraged!

Christianity is not passivity!

"Life is not a spectator sport. If you're going to spend your whole life in the grandstand just watching what goes on, in my opinion you're wasting your life." - Jackie Robinson

Christianity is not passivity! Neither is it what you make it. Trees must reach a certain stage before producing fruit. Then you can tell a tree by its fruit.

“Let us therefore be zealous and exert ourselves and strive diligently to enter that rest [of God, to know and experience it for ourselves], that no one may fall or perish by the same kind of unbelief and disobedience [into which those in the wilderness fell].” (Heb 4.11 AMP)

If you don't invest time in the Word of God nor apply it to your life, then it’s your choice not to know who you really are. However, don't think the rest of us are sitting on our tuffets waiting for the great by and by. On the contrary, we're constantly having to deny ourselves (including thoughts and imaginations and sometimes desires and family) to minister to your friends in secret, wipe someone’s boo boo's, feed and clothe those in need; intercede in court rooms, doctor's offices and comfort others at the morgue.

By the grace of God and His Spirit, we're on the phone all hours of the night fighting for marriages, talking someone down from the bridge, standing in the gap for worthy causes, preparing sermons and messages and dinner at the same time. We trusting Jesus with help from others to stay sane, keep our families and ministries afloat and not raise hell and harm on the liars around our camps. We are indeed laboring to rest.

"He says, but that’s not a big enough job for my servant just to recover the tribes of Jacob, merely to round up the strays of Israel. I’m setting you up as a light for the nations so that my salvation becomes global!” (Is 49.6 MSG)

We are a people who were once sinners and now saved. These are a few examples of how God empowers us to reach others and oftentimes behind the scenes.

YOU my friend are still alive because of someone's prayers. Believe that! Now receive Jesus Christ today as your Lord and Savior. Join us in being and making disciples. Lead others to Christ.

Christianity is not passivity but a life and a lifestyle - walk the talk.

who do men say you are?

7/6/2014

There was a heinous crime committed in the French Quarters over the weekend (July 1, 2014.) Two armed men shot 10 people while running in the Quarters. Terrible isn't it?

A radio talk show host posed a question, "Should police in arms distance of the assailants run after them or stay with the victim?" 60% of those polled said run after the assailant who was arms length away from the policemen.

To add insult to injury, in addition to the aforementioned procedure, all of those who responded suggested removing the "Element" from the Quarters so that people can drink and die at their luxury. What is the "Element?" You really don't know? Well according to those "Christians" who called in, texted and emailed the Christian radio host - Black Men are the element. You should've heard some of the comments.

Needless to say, I was terribly offended and upset at the ignorance that still runs rampant in our communities! Violence is violence. It doesn't have a color but is controlled by the enemy of our souls - satan. he will use whomever is available, black, white or other.

Before you speak, consider the source of the thought. Decide if it was from God or our adversary. Use wisdom, tact and stay humble.

In John 13.34-35 Jesus says, "I give you a new commandment: that you should love one another. Just as I have loved you, so you too should love one another. By this shall all [men] know that you are My disciples, if you love one another [if you keep on showing love among yourselves]."

In contrast, Jesus said in John 8.44, "You are of your father, the devil, and it is your will to practice the lusts and gratify the desires [which are characteristic] of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a falsehood, he speaks what is natural to him, for he is a liar [himself] and the father of lies and of all that is false."

"Lust" in this verse is translated to mean pressure. If satan can apply enough pressure on you, you will become his instrument of destruction.

There is no luke warm Christianity. You're either for Christ or against Him.

Therefore, "For though we walk (live) in the flesh, we are not carrying on our warfare according to the flesh and using mere human weapons.

For the weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood], but they are mighty before God for the overthrow and destruction of strongholds,

[Inasmuch as we] refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God; and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One),

Being in readiness to punish every [insubordinate for his] disobedience, when your own submission and obedience [as a church] are fully secured and complete. Look at [this obvious fact] which is before your eyes.

If anyone is confident that he is Christ’s, let him reflect and remind himself that even as he is Christ’s, so too are we." (2 Corin 10.3-7 AMP)

Pray. Listen for God. Walk the talk.

being fearless!

Some people make things happen, some watch things happen while others wonder what has happened!   - Unknown

The following is one of my favorite scriptures for it reveals the confidence David had in God and his unwavering stance to speak the Word of God by His Spirit (1Sam 16.13) in the midst of perceived trouble. David never let the mocking’s of others change his relationship with God. What others have said about David never influenced God to
remove the anointing from David either.

David wasn't invited to the battle as a soldier of King Saul, but as a servant of his father Jesse: to bring food to his older brothers in battle. David arrived and was appauled that this "uncircumcised Philistine" was still standing. So David drew on the strenght of God and defeated the enemy.

There was a reason David tended sheep and his completed responsibilities are still affecting men and women today for the cause of Christ. What will be said of your life?

Have you been “hidden” by God and you want out? Are others you’ve encouraged advancing beyond your current
state? Are you sure others have the wrong idea about you? Hold tight and fear not. There is a set time for your release. Just as God delivered David and the Israelites from the Philistines, He will do the same for you. Your part, stay in God’s face (2 Tim.4.1-5), remain fearless and when He says pursue, overtake and recover all (1 Sam 30.8), YOU DO IT.

Time is up for the Believer being backed into a corner and allowing the enemy to choke the word of God.
Receive ye the Holy Spirit and go with God!

Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. THIS DAY the Lord will
deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you. And this day I will give the carcasses of the camp of the Philistines to the birds of the air and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. Then all this assembly shall know that the Lord does not save with sword and spear; for the battle is the Lord’s, and He will give you into our hands.” (1 Sam 17.45-47)

I Have to Tell You!

4/14/2012

A man and a woman, both single, attended a religious camp meeting one day. Each ones heart yearned to hear the true Word of God. By the end of the meeting, the guest minister called the two to meet him at the altar. They were surprised to learn that they’d be married to each other before the night was over.

Embarrassed and yet fearful of denying the man of God, the two went on with the ceremony. There was no premarital counseling, no Godly advice given, no marriage license presented nor was the minister registered in their county, as required by law, to perform the ceremony. Adding insult to injury, the minister commanded the new husband publically to, “go up in her tonight.”

A little while after the marriage ceremony, the new husband told his pastor that he and his wife do nothing but fight and bicker. He said they don’t agree on anything concerning the marriage, finances, living arrangements nor their future and wanted to know what to do.

Is it just me or did everything go terribly wrong at that camp meeting? Were the people were so entrenched with the sensational, the platform of other finely appareled male ministers, the charisma of the guest minister, his stern looks, his waving hands and body gestures; that they failed to see “Satan’s devises” (2 Corin. 2.11)?  To many the word preached
felt like it should’ve been true. And because none of the other ministers on the platform moved towards silencing or correcting the guest minister after making a mockery of God, His word and His people, the onlookers believed the doctrine and show as truth.

As for the two who were married, well they were led to sin and if having not repented, are separated from God.

Why did this happen? And why didn’t anyone say anything?
“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected
knowledge.”

(Hosea 4.6)

Because of Adam’s sin, a man’s soul, if not blood washed, will lean toward and hunger after temporal and visual stimulation.  The devil knows what you like and what you want to hear. He knows how to stimulate you. He sends his demons in to lead you away pretending as if they were sent from Christ.

We are all born with an instinctive desire to love and please God. This knowledge comes after a life has been submitted to Him through the sacrifice of Jesus and much study (Matt 11.29, 2 Tim 2.15). Jesus has said that Satan desires to sift us as wheat (Lk 22.31-32.) The devil uses this info in hopes of separating you from Jesus and stopping the ministry of reconciliation from advancing.

Repeatedly throughout the Bible is the declaration that false teachers will rise up and lead away people, even God’s elect, with doctrines of demons: read 1 Kings 13.11-29, Matt 7.15-20, 2 Corin
11.13-15, and 2 Tim 3.1-9.

As is stated in Hosea above we will not want to realize this truth. The enemy knows that Jesus will, “clean house—make a clean sweep of your lives. He'll place everything true in its proper place before God; everything false he'll put out with the trash to be burned." (Lk 3.17 MSG) So the enemy uses fear to paralyze many and keep them afraid of rocking the boat! It’s how he gains access into your lives and perverts the word of God.

What do we do now?
“Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” (Matt 26.41)  You must be transformed by the renewing of your mind, when you are born again. Now is the time to die to your feelings/emotions leading the way.  Now is your time to be led by the Spirit of God!

To the ones whose lives have been submitted to Jesus, He gives us the power in the Holy Ghost. A surrendered life is able to demonstrate the faith we have in Him (IS 61.2b-11, Matt 21.19-21, Mark 16.20,  Jn 1.12, Rom 8.19, 1 Corin 2.4, Phil 2.15.)

You have God’s authority to walk out of any meeting where God isn’t present, the word has been corrupted and/or the acts bring to mind the People’s Temple or the Heaven’s Gate cult groups. Take every word spoken and line it up with that of God. Throw away anything in thought or deed opposite of God’s word. Watch the character and lifestyle of a leader in God’s house. Steer clear of those who don’t exhibit a Christ like lifestyle of change.

Invite God in to your heart today. Pray He leads you by His Spirit. Ask for Godly discernment. Read, study and learn His word. Inquire of God for a local ministry that will feed you the unadulterated Word of God.

Tithe and offer into a living and thriving ministry that the Word of God may reach the world.

Grow the measure of faith He’s given you. Then help another!
