Pastor Young and I have a bunch of sons! Without fail, when we tell them to load up (meaning everyone get in the truck) there are at least 4 of them who ask where we’re going. They ask during the entire trip. Sometimes it’s a surprise and others not. Some trips are short and others require an overnight stay in the middle of our excursion. Many roads snake through the country and others climb mountains. We’ve often run into DOTD construction along the way. What do I say when someone’s asked me again where we’re going, ‘Just ride.’ It’s improper English I know. But they understand I’m aggravated, lol.
As parents, we’re not of the mindset to purposely hurt or injure our children. They are safe with us. We don’t lie to them. We want the best for them. We give them what God has provided us especially His Word. They know that by the end of the trip, through sunshine and rain, lunches consisting of cold fried chicken and boiled eggs, and potty breaks every so often, it will have been worth the wait. I think the only thing we’re missing is the rear facing back seat!
I want to encourage you. I hope I succeed and maybe cause you to smile. Life throws us some challenges. Today our route is clear and we know where we’re headed. Tomorrow something is thrown in the way. There’s the loss we didn’t expect. An illness that we’re told is severe enough to take a life if not attended to immediately. Friends and family seem to have forgotten your name.
My dear brother or sister let me remind you, if you are doing what God said and your efforts don’t show progress nor do your next steps appear clear at first glance, then just ride. Trust God. When you feel anxious or discouraged, refer to the promises of Jesus, speak them aloud to yourself to comfort you, worship God and just ride. Don’t abandon ship and plan your own diversions. Stay the course designed for you, strengthen your faith and just ride.
Now a few Words from our Sponsor: Have faith in God; The just shall live by faith; We walk by faith and not by sight; Build yourselves up on your most Holy faith; All things work together for good for them who love God and are called according to His purpose; Therefore, submit yourself to God, resist the devil and he will flee from you.
This is a snippet from a lesson I’ve entitled, “Just Ride.” In the meantime, make time for Jesus and study. He’s the Man with the plan and YOU are the apple of His eye!
